Sustainable culture.

Sustainability is our broad sweeping approach to everything we do. To be sustainable means to search for balance in our relationships, our work, our environment, and our lives.

Sustainability in patient relationships means that we aim to create a long-lasting partnership with you that grows stronger over time.

Sustainability for our medical team means that we aim to create a great place to work and practice medicine, allowing us to retain truly exceptional coworkers.

Sustainability for our environment means that we aim to minimize waste and redundancy in our practices, always searching for renewable resources and separating ourselves from the traditional ways of medical office management.

Sustainability in our community means that we aim to spread our culture, connect with our neighbors, and build a strong community that cares for one another in everything we do.

Current Sustainability Projects

Waste Management.

Unfortunately health care generates a lot of waste. We are currently optimizing waste management practices to minimize our unnecessary waste. In addition, we have launched a recycling and composting program within the office. Since creating this program, we have reduced our garbage landfill waste by over 70%. We are especially proud of this because as it stands currently the town of Old Fort does not offer any pick up programs, so we sort and drop the recycling and compost ourselves.

Responsible Consumption.

Healthcare practices have high rates of consumption, both in office and medical supplies, but also electricity and other utilities. We are cultivating a culture of finding the most efficient and effective strategies of providing an excellent medical care without consuming unnecessary materials. This includes an updated energy efficient building, along with monthly meetings to review unnecessary supply utilization. Any third party vendor we work with is expected to meet our standards of minimizing unnecessary consumption and sustainability. A part of this program is a recent effort to remove consumption of styrofoam and single use plastic from the office.

Renewable Energy. (Coming soon). Plans are in the works to modify our commercial roof into a solar roof.

Carbon Offsetting.

Every person and business has an environmental footprint from the resources that are consumed. This has an impact on the planet. We believe that to do business sustainably is to take into account the true cost of doing business, not just financially, but for the environment. In light of this we calculate our monthly carbon footprint and make donations to offset this amount. While we acknowledge that carbon offsetting alone is not an effective strategy for sustainability in the face of climate change, it is an important part of a balanced approach to taking assertive action for change. Our practice uses offsetting as a final measure after we make all of the responsible decisions available to us.
